– Interview with Mr. Vahit Mahayni, Export Sales Executive at ÖZEN IPLIK
1. Tell us about your current manufacturing infrastructure.
Özen İplik factory has been established in 1972 and till today it keeps growing continuously by enhancing and supporting all the departments with the skillful hands and the educated clever minds of the management and the producion staff , plus by renewing the production lines and the related departments always and adding newest machines that increases productivity and reduces waste for the best ideal sewing thread industry conditions.
We can quickly summarize the production stages in our factory;
2. What is the current market demand for yarns for mattresses? What kind of yarns are currently in vogue, and why?
Due to the development that has occurred in mattress manufacturing methods and its further transition to becoming an integrated automated process after it had been a purely manual process for a long time so the demand on our products today becomes steadily rising due to the increasing number of factories operating in the field of manufacturing sleeping mattresses and related home textiles in Turkey , Europe & Russia , Middle East, North America , Latin America , North Africa , South Africa & Australia.
In general ; the thread types that used in our industry mainly made from the polyester:
Most of our customers prefers those types because of the durability of the thread plus the
reasonable cost and shipping conditions that we offer to them.
3. What are the latest technologies in the manufacturing of yarns? Has AI and machine learning made a mark here?
The thread industry has not changed radically thanks to modern technologies and the revolution of artificial intelligence. Rather, it has maintained the same production sequence, but it can be said that what has changed is that the speed of production has become greater and its quality has become higher due to the application of modern technologies in production machines and reducing dependence on the human factor.
What has changed most in the yarn industry is the efforts made to develop new types by applying different proportions of chemicals to the composition of different fibers in their initial form to reach final yarn products with appropriate properties according to demand, such as producing yarn that resists ultraviolet rays, or yarns that are water repellent or resistant to fire and flames , etc..
4. How significant a role does sustainability play in your business?
For sure sustainability plied a huge role in our industry . Here at ÖZEN IPLIK we already belive that it speed up and reduces our production costs and keeps the quality levels of our products at stabile lines beside being enviromental friendly ..
As an example; In ÖZEN we are recycling the water resulted from the dyeing house ; Instead of discharging it into drainage channels and thus causing harm to the surrounding environment of our factory.
We redirect the polluted water to special machines that purify it and return it to its previous condition for reuse, thereby reducing expenses plus preserving the environment. We also has a recycling line for the plastic bobbins ; using the right machine for that we re-collect the plastic bobbins then we turn them into plastic granules, then they are melted by heat to reshape them into molds suitable for final production with different sizes and shapes according to the need in production.
5. What is your presence like in the Middle East and Africa market? How is demand growing here?
Instability, political tensions, wars here and there all cause invested capital to leak out of the countries of the Middle East and Africa to more stable countries that provide comfortable work environments, in addition to the inflation taking place in the entire world, and this is what really calls us to participate more in foreign exhibitions to remain close to the customers in these two regions. Therefore, we are also seeking to compress our costs to reach our products to price levels that suit the segment of Middle Eastern and African consumers, while working to implant a culture of the appropriate product. It does not necessarily have to be cheap, as a good product is one that is affordable , in addition to having a degree of quality that leads to prolong the life of mattress production machines and not cause damage to them and thus reduce maintenance costs for the customer. Bad threads, for example, lead to breakage of the quilting and stitching needles or can greatly damage the mattress fabrics as well.
