1. Teijin has long been known for its high-quality polyester fibers. How are your latest innovations, like the high-performance cushion materials, redefining comfort and sustainability in the bedding and nonwoven industries?
As a high-quality polyester fiber manufacturer, we are redefining comfort and sustainability by offering high-performance polyester fibers tailored for both stuffing and nonwoven cushioning applications. We are committed to creating innovative fiber solutions for the bedding industry, with the flexibility to align our developments to meet each customer’s specific needs.
For example, for the cushion and mattresses, to improve the comfortability and offer sustainability at the same time, we have developed elk® fiber as an alternative solution to PU foam, offering advantages such as lightweight structure, excellent breathability, and non-toxic performance.
In stuffing applications, our fiberfill provides added functional benefits, including anti-mite, anti-bacterial, deodorizing, and quick-dry properties etc. These fiberfill materials can also serve as matrix fibers, blending seamlessly with our nonwoven cushioning fiber elk® to enhance performance and deliver customized solutions to our customers in the bedding industry. Additionally, our fiberfill is produced from recycled polyester and certified by GRS (Global Recycled Standard), reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing.
To further support environment of the world, we are currently developing Natural Bio-mass Bio-compostable (NBB) fibers for stuffing applications. This fiber offers a similar touch and feeling as polyester but comes with compostable properties, helping to reduce polyester waste and contribute to CO₂ emissions reduction.
2. With your expansion plans into the Middle East and African markets, what key demands or trends are you observing in these regions?
We are relatively new to the Middle East and African markets, and we recognize that the climate, environment, and consumer behavior in these regions may differ significantly from our existing markets. This presents a valuable opportunity for us to closely observe key demands and emerging trends, particularly in bedding and fiberfill applications.
Our focus is on identifying the most relevant needs such as cooling properties, moisture management, or durability so we can match or tailor our fiber development accordingly.
In addition to product innovation, we are also actively seeking strong business partnerships in these regions, as we believe collaboration with local partners will be essential for sustainable growth.
3. Pioneering solutions together for a healthy planet” is a powerful brand statement. How is this philosophy reflected in your product development and partnerships?
Our company purpose emphasizes collaboration with both our suppliers and customers to drive sustainable innovations. It is clearly reflected in our product development efforts, such as introducing recycled materials, developing alternatives to PU foam, and creating compostable fibers with various functional designs and capabilities. These solutions are tailored to meet the specific need of each application while supporting our shared goal of reducing environmental impact and promoting together with our stakeholders for a healthier planet.
4. Can you elaborate on the advantages of your functional stuffing fibers (antibacterial, quick dry, etc.) over traditional filling materials, especially in hygiene or hospitality applications?
In hygiene and hospitality applications, the quality and performance of materials often go beyond what the eye can see but they have a significant long-term impact on health and overall quality of life. Our functional stuffing fibers, such as antibacterial, quick-dry, and anti-mite types, are specifically developed with this in mind.
Each function is thoroughly tested and verified through laboratory evaluations to ensure proven effectiveness. These features help maintain cleanliness, reduce allergen exposure, manage moisture, and enhance comfort making them ideal for use in environments where hygiene and user well-being are top priorities. Our development approach focuses not only on functionality but also on improving everyday living through reliable, science-based innovation.
