Chairman of Harrison Spinks recognized for transformative contributions to sustainability and innovation in the mattress and bed industry.

According to a news article in Bed Times Magazine, Simon Spinks, chairman of UK-based mattress manufacturer Harrison Spinks, has been awarded an OBE in the King’s 2025 New Year’s Honours List for his exceptional contributions to the mattress and bed industry.
Spinks, a two-time president of the National Bed Federation and chair of its Sustainability Forum, has driven significant advancements in sustainability and innovation. Under his leadership, Harrison Spinks has received eight Queen’s and King’s Awards for Enterprise, including for Innovation, Sustainability, and International Trade.
Spinks holds over 100 global patents, including for his pioneering glue-free Microcoil pocket spring and innovations replacing glues and foams, enhancing mattress recyclability. He also acquired a farm to produce sustainable mattress fillings, positioning Harrison Spinks as a leading grower of carbon-negative industrial hemp and a user of Traceable British Wool.
Through his vision, the company has expanded from 50 to over 650 employees, contributing to economic growth in West Yorkshire.
“To receive the award was a total surprise and an absolute honor,” Spinks said. “This recognition would not have been possible without the support of my family, colleagues, and peers.”
