Earlier this week, Intercoil International and DOLIDOL (a Member of AFRICORP Consortium Group) formed a strategic partnership to become the MEA’s Largest integrated bedding + foam manufacturing network.
The official announcement of the joint venture partnership between Intercoil International and AFRICORP Consortium was made by Mr Hassan Al Hazeem, CEO Intercoil International and Mr. Saad Berrada Sounni, Chairman of AFRICORP Consortium during the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development summit in Qatar, in the presence of the Ministers of Industry and Trade from both the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, highlighting the strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
Intercoil International has established itself as a pioneer in promoting ‘Made in UAE’ manufacturing excellence, operating state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and setting industry benchmarks in the production of premium sleep solutions.
The partnership brings together two established leaders in the bedding industry. Through its industrial division, AFRICORP Industry, the consortium operates one of Africa’s most recognized bedding and foam manufacturing businesses under the Dolidol brand. This integration creates significant opportunities for technological innovation, sustainable manufacturing practices, and market expansion across the Middle East and Africa.
The team behind Sleep Expo ME spoke with Mr Hassan Al Hazeem, CEO, Intercoil International to hear about his thoughts on the partnership.
Q1. What does this partnership mean for the bedding and sleep solutions industry in the Middle East & Africa?
This partnership is reshaping our regional industry in ways we couldn’t have imagined when Intercoil first started manufacturing in the UAE 50 years ago. By joining forces with DOLIDOL, we’re establishing a true regional network that connects North Africa to the Gulf, bringing together decades of manufacturing expertise from both markets.
For the bedding industry, this means we’re not just growing bigger – we’re growing smarter. We’re seeing manufacturing capabilities expand, supply chains strengthen, and most importantly, we’re building on the foundation of excellence that combines regional expertise with international standards.
What excites me most is how this demonstrates the maturity of our regional industry. We’re building on our proven model of combining strong local manufacturing with strategic international partnerships, as we’ve done successfully with Simmons and Therapedic for over two decades. As a UAE company that’s been manufacturing here for five decades, we see this as a natural next step in the region’s industrial development.

What’s particularly meaningful is how this partnership strengthens our core values. For five decades, we’ve focused on premium manufacturing while building lasting relationships – both with international brands and regional customers who trust our products. Now, we can apply this successful model across a wider geography, bringing together the best of local manufacturing and global expertise.
For us, this partnership marks a milestone in our 50-year journey as a UAE manufacturer. It allows us to expand our commitment to quality sleep solutions across the MEA region while staying true to the principles that have made us a trusted brand at home and a respected partner internationally.
The partnership outlines an ambitious development strategy across four key areas, supported by a planned investment of $55 million over five years:
- Manufacturing development: Increase in production capacity at the UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah plant, alongside a substantial expansion of Saudi Arabian operations through a new integrated manufacturing facility for foam, mattresses, and furniture production.
- Regional retail expansion: Launch of 20 new Intercoil showrooms across strategic locations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Egypt. These showrooms will feature advanced technologies to enhance customer experience.
- Innovation leadership: Development of new product lines incorporating smart sleep technology,including AI-powered diagnostics and connected sleep solutions. The R&D program will focus on developing proprietary technologies for comfort and durability.
- Sustainability initiatives: Implementation of comprehensive environmental programs, including transition to solar energy at key manufacturing facilities and development of recyclable product lines. The partnership includes collaboration with research institutions to advance eco-friendly foam technologies.
With this partnership, the MEA region continues to be in the spotlight for the mattress and bedding industry, leveraging the importance of a trade show like Sleep Expo Middle East.
